The six Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani Governors, have resolved to have Kilifi County assume Chairmanship of the Kenya Coast Economic bloc. Consequently, H.E Gideon Mung'aro becomes the third Chairman taking over from Taita Taveta's former Governor, Granton Samboja. The first chairman was Kwale County's former Governor, H.E Salim Mvurya who deputized by Governor Mombasa County, H.E Hassan A. Joho.
At a meeting held at the new offices of the Jumuiya Economic Development Secretariat, immediately after the official opening on October 25, 2022, the Governors reiterated their commitment to advance the regional Economic cooperation. The Governors agreed to hold their first meeting in November to review progress and draw a roadmap of initiatives, "Jumuiya 2.0"
