The European Union’s programme GO BLUE: Output 1| Component Tourism and Cultural Heritage launched a call for proposals with a EUR 520 000.00 budget to be awarded in grants with the purpose of fostering sustainable job creation through innovative and/ or social business models in Kenya’s Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani (JKP, Kenya’s coastal counties economic bloc – Kilifi, Kwale, Lamu, Mombasa, Taita-Taiveta and Tana-River), according to the following lots:
Lot 1 - Applications from civil society organizations to manage micro-grants targeting cultural tourism business developed by individual entrepreneurs or community-based organizations
Minimum Grant Amount- EUR 50 000.00
Maximum Grant Amount- EUR 50 000.00
Lot 2- Applications from civil society, public and private sector organizations to small grants for development and enhancement of tourism and cultural heritage
Minimum Grant Amount- EUR 5 000.00
Maximum Grant Amount-- EUR 20 000.00
Public and private entities (profit and nonprofit), including enterprises, may apply as long as the legal persons are incorporated and/or registered in Kenya and carry out their main business activity there.
Partnerships with other entities are eligible, provided at least one implementing partner complies with the preceding conditions.
Through this action, the European Union and its partners wish to contribute to contribute to coastal economic development in an inclusive, integrated, participatory and sustainable manner in the JKP, Kenya’s coastal counties economic bloc.
The public launch and Q&A session of this call for proposals was held at Technical University of Mombasa, on the 20th of November 2021, open to organizations with an interest in operating in Tourism and Cultural Heritage sectors. Due to Covid -19 restrictions the session was held both virtually and physically, with a restricted attendance.
The call is open until February, 04th 2022.
